Marcus was once again invited to Art Direct the Summer Program for Garnet Hill, working for the first time on this brand with favorite Photographer Jonny Valiant. 

Marcus and the team embraced the Summer Season with a new linen launched by Garnet Hill who do great linen products in both home and fashion.

Working with light and bright Summery sets, Jonny and Marcus worked hard at creating wonderful summery light with highlights and sun filled rooms, working with sets designed by Marcus with the very clever set builder Matt Carstens.   

Both Super star Prop Stylist Carin Scheve and Soft Stylist Eduardo Vinueza worked their amzing magic in creating a mood inspired by the fashion teams trip to Morocco.

What a joy to work on the latest CB2 Catalog in Chicago with Photographer Jonny Valiant once again late last year. Over a few weeks Marcus and his team shot and styled a portion as illustrated above for the latest Spring Catalog working with some exciting new furniture and design pieces which just keep getting better and better each saeson, Congrats to all at CB2 including our amazing AD Jennifer Moore who is always such a pleasure to work with. 

 Always a bigger then Ben Hur project, we spent almost a whole week just working on designing the sets with the lead set builder Jake, carefully creating authentic sets that resembled South American Social Clubs, Modern Moroccan Villas and West Coast Homes with that Californian vibe all from snowy Chicago, It really is quite amazing the magic that is created.

It all happens in Chicago!, Marcus worked once again with Photographer Jonny Valiant for CB2 in the Crate & Barrel Studios for the next addition of the Spring, 17 book just out. This is the second Spring addition which features some new spreads.

We continued our take on  Modern Italian and Californian inspired stories. Here we have a couple of new bedrooms, Marcus has spent many years working with beds and there's some major tricks that go into making a bed look great, there's always a fine line between lived in and just plain messy, For CB2 we like to style them more on the simpler side. The first bedroom was made to feel like a Fashionista's hotel room and the second a Gentleman's Quarter so a slightly different approach was taken on both to give a point of difference.

Marcus worked with creating the sets with set builder and designer Justin Rowe and Art Director Jennifer Moore working with may marble surfaces and metallic detailing. Thanks to my wonderful Chicago based Assistants Veronica Sullivan and Amanda Wolfson

In Chicago, Marcus worked once again with the ever talented Jonny Valiant for CB2 in the Crate & Barrel Studios for the Spring, 17 book just out.

It was exciting to work with many new products new to the season and seen for the first time. We shot the book in many themes including Modern Italian and Californian inspired stories. Many bedrooms and living rooms but also a coffee shop in the mix that used a very exciting 3D herringbone wall.

Marcus worked with creating the sets with set builder and designer Justin Rowe and Art Director Jennifer Moore working with may marble surfaces and metallic detailing. All finishes were created by Alexis Gourguechon including the marble surfboard that features on some of the spreads, Alexis is a master at the faux finish and very talented. Thanks to my amazing Assistants Veronica Sullivan and Amanda Wolfson

For the Holiday's, 2016, Marcus was asked to join the team in Chicago to shoot the very extensive Holiday Gift Guide that comes out each year for CB2. Spanning over a couple of weeks, the team shot over 55 images for the book in different themes such as The Bar, The Garden, For Her, For Him, The Host etc 

It was great to work with such interesting graphic and contemporary gift ideas, many of which we are adding to our list for these holidays. Marcus especially loved styling the spread for The Garden finding amazing succulents and plants at Sprout Home, one of his favorite Chicago stores. 

He also used hand crafted silver, gold and copper leafed gift tags throughout especially made and designed for the shoot by his team. Marcus got to work with the amazing as ever Photographer Jonny Valiant.

For the Holidays and CB2, Marcus travelled to Chicago a few months ago to work with the team at The Crate and Barrel Studios. This project was the gift guide that is interwoven into the regular catalog which has just come out for the Holidays, 2016. 

We were working with much smaller sets then normal. Marcus has just returned again from Chicago where he was part of the team once again for Spring, 16 where the sets where at maximum capacity and felt more familiar. Marcus has worked on The Gift Guide a few years back and he knows it takes a different mindset as there are a lot more images on each page and it is important that each spread has a consistent flow in terms of it's individual theme. 

These are just a few of the spreads of many that were featured, Look out for the next set next month in the larger book. Jonny Valiant shot these wonderful images and Marcus would like to thank his amazing Assistants Veronica and Carrie for helping him make it all happen.

It's the height of Summer and SMH, Inc like everybody else in the northern hemisphere is sweltering in the heat but you can take light relief flipping through your latest CB2 Catalog and a nice cold Chardonnay as Marcus brings it with his latest styling for the Chicago based brand.

Excited to make a new journey, SMH, Inc is traveling once again to the windy city next week for nearly a month to work on Holiday offerings, working once again with the very talented Photographer Jonny Valiant. This series of images are also shot by Jonny.

It's always such fun to work with such modern and sleek designs, CB2 have really been riding a creative wave with lot's of great new finds for the home.

This Pre-Fall for CB2, Marcus made the journey to Chicago for a few weeks to work on the latest catalog that is out now. It’s hard to believe but all these amazing rooms were created in the studio from scratch working with the amazing set builders using a lot of reclaimed pieces found in salvage yards and shops around Chicago.

The focus this season revolved around a number of themes including West Coast Casual, Vintage Italian Modern, Gentleman’s Quarters and Luxe Minimalism.  These were perfect themes for Marcus, He says: “ Italian Gio Ponti is one of my favorite masters of design so I was super excited with the theme Vintage Italian Modern, I couldn’t help but reference him and draw inspiration from his approach to design”

“CB2 have a wonderful collection of new pieces of furniture and decorative pieces so it was a real pleasure to be able to work with these silhouettes”
