Purple was the color worn by Roman magistrates; it became the imperial color worn by the rulers of the Byzantine Empire and the Holy Roman Empire and later by Roman Catholic bishops. Similarly in Japan, the color is traditionally associated with the Emperor and aristocracy. For us at Studio Marcus Hay it will always be associated with the late and great singer Prince who sadly passed away earlier this year.
When sourcing for this image Marcus tapped into rich velvets, amethyst crystals and feathers. Purple runs the gamut of tones, Anywhere from a rich deep blue purple to a lilac to a red hued burgundy.
We enjoyed shooting this image for Better Homes & Gardens featured in the November issue and shot once again by the lovely Photographer Kat Teutsch.
